Using your application reference number:
You must register within 28 days of submitting your DBS application.

Using your certificate number:
If you did not register during the application stage, you must register using the certificate number printed on your physical certificate within 30 days of the date of issue.

Missing these windows means you cannot link the certificate to the Update Service, requiring a brand-new Enhanced DBS application in the future. All registrations must be completed directly via the official GOV.UK DBS Update Service portal.
